Release Intelligence

Automatically generate a Changelog from your recent improvements.
Release Intelligence

Release Intelligence uses AI to turn your recent Linear work into a polished changelog draft. When you complete a project in Linear — or click Generate Changelog — it fetches all issues and projects completed since your last published changelog and writes a professional entry for you.

Each completed project gets a detailed two-paragraph summary. Completed issues are grouped by their Linear label (or inferred product area) and listed as concise bullet points with human-readable titles.

How it works

  1. Automatic trigger
Complete a Linear project and a changelog draft appears automatically in Productlane.

  2. Manual trigger
Click Generate Changelog from the changelog screen or from inside a changelog entry. This fetches all completed issues and projects since your last published changelog (or the last three months if no changelog exists).

  3. AI generation
Release Intelligence generates a professional draft based on the titles, descriptions, and labels of those issues and projects.

  4. Review and publish
Edit the draft as needed, then publish when ready.

Requirements

  • Linear must be connected in Settings → Integrations → Linear.

  • AI Changelog generation is available on the Pro and Scale plans.

Creating and editing changelog entries via MCP

You can also create, edit, and publish changelog entries programmatically through the MCP integration. Once an MCP-compatible client (such as Claude or Cursor) is connected to your workspace, you can ask it to:

  • Draft a new changelog entry and leave it as an unpublished draft for review.

  • Edit the title or body of an existing entry, whether it is a draft or already published.

  • Publish a draft entry or broadcast it to customers via email or Slack.

This requires the changelogs scope to be granted when authorizing the MCP connection. See the MCP article for full details.
